Armpocket Giveaway

I have been a runner for quite sometime and I like love have to run with music.  I often will take my little iPod for my short runs.  However, on my long runs, trail runs and races I feel it necessary to carry my iPhone with me.  I have tried just about every system out there to carry my iPhone.  But I run into a huge problem...I am a klutz.  Seriously, my parents would call me butterfingers when I was little.  I have broken more phones in the history of phone devices.  I have resorted to using an OtterBox.  Anyone who has one has one story or another on how it has saved their phones, right?  Me too.  With all of the selection of arm, waist pocket contraptions to hold my phone I ALWAYS have to take the phone out of the OtterBox.  Hence, my problem, I then have my precious phone exposed to me dropping it.  I have recently seen a product that looks promising.  It is called the Armpocket.  They make it to fit all different kinds of phones and they even have one that holds an iPhone with an Otterbox case on it (listen to the heavens singing)!  I want need one of these babies.  Arent' the cool?  And they come in different colors, of course my choice is pink the best color ever.  I, however, have spent so much money on different armbands, waistbands, etc. that I am a bit nervous to buy another one.  Justkeeprunning.com has solved my solution.  They are giving one away.  If you are a runner or an exerciser that likes to keep your phone with you check out the contest and good luck!  If you win let me know what you think and if I should get myself one.

National Running Day

Well Happy National Running Day y'all!  I love this time of year for running.  The weather is wonderful not to hot or cold.  All of the kids activities and events of the year are all coming to an end.  The flowers and trees are waking up from their winter slumber.  It is wonderful to run outside and take in all that has been given to us.  I have been in training mode for my half marathons that I have signed up for during this time of year.  I try to run one half marathon each month from April to October.  This day is a reminder to me to remember all of the reasons that I love to run.  I hope everyone gets out and runs until their hearts are full of the wonderfulness of life!

Love to Run

Anyone who knows me that my preferred exercise is running.  I have always been a casual runner.  It was not until 4 years ago that I took it to a whole other level.  I decided to embark on running a half marathon.  And when I mean decide I literally decided when I was in the middle of a 6 mile run to see how far I could go.  To my surprise I could run 10 miles and still could have gone further but since it was midnight I figured I had better be finished for the night.  I then signed up to run the SLC Half Marathon and have never looked back.  I have since run over 15 races and it never gets old.  I have had many ups and downs with running but still love the thrill of completing the races brings!  And the bling doesn't hurt...I kind of love getting medals!  I have tried many products in my journey of running.  I have loved some and have hated some.  I would love to win me some of these headphones that have been featured on Running Diva Mom.  I was watching the video on these incredible headphones and think they sound amazing.  I have had a struggle finding the right headphones...I have tried the standard earbuds that come with the iphone/shuffle...hated them.  They kept falling out.  I have tried the Ironman Yurbuds...still to this day cannot figure out the twist and stay motion to get them snug in my ear.  I have used numerous earbuds such as Ifrogz.  I found the only ones that have worked for me since I have them in for a longtime are the Sennheiser PMX 680 Sports Earbud Headphones.  They have a neckband that hold them in place.  This Jaybird Headphones have a band to hold them in place as well as are bluetooth that makes them wireless.  I think I am in love.  If you are interested in checking these headphones click HERE.  If you want to enter the contest as well click HERE.

Coolest Contest for the Runners out there!

The blog mom vs. Marathon Blog is having a contest to win some compression socks. If you are a runner and have not used these socks they are heaven to your calves. If you run even a little you need these. When I run my long runs I will wake up with very sore calves. Knowing this I will put on my compression socks right after the run and wear them over night and then....MAGIC...not soreness! I love them. Plus the prize is from the coolest girl running place EVER! Running Skirts! I highly recommend you try a running skirt, you will never want to run in anything else ever again! Head over to try and win...

I DID IT!

I ran my first half marathon and it felt great! I was so excited to finish my first half marathon, I was on cloud nine the rest of the day. I thought I would want to just come home and crawl into bed after getting only about 2 hours of sleep. I was so nervous and excited that I just could not sleep. When I got to sleep I kept waking up because I was afraid that I was going to sleep through my alarm that went off at 5:00 am--ouch. Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a night owl--an extreme night owl. I am up until about 3 am every night.
I got down to Salt Lake and was so glad that I brought an extra outfit. Since it was my first race I did not know what to wear (just like a girl I know). I figured it would better to be safe than sorry. I originally put on my tank top and shorts (the day high was 73 degrees) but at 6 am it is freezing. I got half way across the parking lot and turned around to put on my long sleeve shirt and calf long leggings.
I went to the platform to wait for the TRAX to come (public transportation provided for free). It did not come for over a half an hour. We all started to panic because we had less than fifteen minutes before the start of the race and the ride up to the start takes 25 minutes. You can do the math--we were all late (even the girl who won it last year!!) I then had to go to the bathroom. I was so happy to know that you do not start to get clocked until you cross the start line. I started the race 20 minutes late. My time was 2 hours and 11 minutes. Not bad for my first half marathon. I was just happy that I finished. I was so proud that I wore my bib and metal most of the day--to show off of course!
