Super Easy Last Minute Gift

This a craft that I have put together in no time at all. Literally it took about 20 minutes (or less). I originally did this craft for my boy scout group to make for their parents and liked it so much that I had to make some to give out myself.
Items needed:

12 x 12 wood
scrapbook paper
decoupage
paint
hot glue gun
vinyl
clip
ribbon
drill (or heavy duty stapler would work)

Take a 12 x 12 piece of pressed board. I then painted to sides of the wood brown. Decoupaged a piece of scrapbook paper on the front. Cut out "Brag Board" out with my Cricut. I used Brown Vinyl (my first time using vinyl in my Cricut!). Place the words on the top. Glue a clip or a clothespin in the center top. Drill two holes at the top and insert ribbon and tie.

Need for spring fix

I needed to make something that made me look forward to spring. This was so easy to make. I think it is just adorable. Much cheaper than buying premade.

Prebuy or repurpose a container. This one is from Ben Franklin Crafts. Used 40% off coupon and paid 3.50 for it. Buy some small sprigs. You can get these at Wal-Mart for a $1.00 each. I used six. Also, get some green floral foam for $2.00.

Cut the green floral foam to the size and shape of your container. Hot glue in place.

Cut the stems off of the flowers. Starting on the center of container work your way out. The trick is to put a center one in and then put a square around the center (about a third of the way to the edge.) Then do a diamond around the square (about 2/3 of the way to the edge). Then place sprigs at corners of container.

Hot Water Bottle Sweater

I saw one of these in a magazine and thought how easy would it be to make one. It is so cute and much more comfortable to lay on.
  1. If there is a bottom flap on your watter bottle, carefully cut it off. You take your hot water bottle and trace it onto a manilla folder. Cut out pattern 1/4 inch larger than trace.

  2. Get an old sweater (one with a turtle neck). Trace pattern on the front side. Placing the neck of the pattern at the neck of the sweater. DO NOT CUT THE TURTLENECK LENGTH. NEEDS TO BE THERE TO FOLD DOWN. JUST CUT STRAIGHT DOWN ON BOTH SIDES TO THE START OF YOUR PATTERN.

  3. Cut out JUST the front side.

  4. Trace pattern on the back side of sweater. Again placing the neck of the pattern at the neck of the sweater. Cut out the back.

  5. Put right sides together and serge or zigzag stitch around the entire sweater leaving an opening at the turtleneck. **If you want to be really fancy you can stitch around the body. Turn right sides out and then stitch the under side of the turtleneck so that the seams do not show.**

  6. Roll up the water bottle longwise and place into sweater. It might be snug around the neck but get someone to hold the bottom of the water bottle and pull in opposing directions. It will go in. I rolled the bottle into thirds.

Four Leaf Clover

Items needed:

2x6x8.5 block
3 contrasting papers
Green paper to match papers
1 button
Ribbon
Nail File or sandpaper

I have wanted to add some Irish to our home. I came up with this easy clover. Take a 2 x 6 x 8.5. Paint three sides green, leaving the front unpainted. Choose a light paper for the background (front of wood block). Cut a little larger than block. Modge Podge on and let dry. Once dried use a rough nail file or sand paper to get the edges off. Get a contrasting paper cut 4 - 3 inch hearts. Cut a stem about 3 inches. In another contrasting paper cut 4 - 2.5 hearts. Cut a stem about 2.5 inches. Slightly curl all pieces. Using a glue dot place 2.5 inch hearts onto the 3 inch hearts at the points. Glue dot the stems together up at the top of the stem.

Take two of the hearts and overlap them at the points (180 degrees from each other). Then do the same for the other two hearts. Attach all of the hearts in the middle. Place button in the middle. Glue dot the all the connected hearts into the middle of the wood. Place stem under the hearts.

Tie a ribbon to the bottom of the block.

Foam Fun

My kids had so much fun making and using the foam paint. The foam paint is really easy to make, use, and clean up!

Foam Paint Recipe
1 part white glue (example 1/2 cup)
2 parts heaping shaving cream (example 1 cup)
food coloring
paper

Mix glue, shaving cream and food coloring together. Cut a shape out to have paint go onto.

Let the kids go to town with their fingers. Tons of fun. Because of the shaving cream, it makes it super easy to clean up.
